The WestJet Group today has issued a lockout notice to the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), the union that represents WestJet and Swoop pilots, in response to their strike notification.
The Saksatoon Airport operations team continues to work closely with WestJet on how this will impact our community. If the strike proceeds, we anticipate that there will be cancelled flights and a reduced flight schedule in our airport while negotiations continue.
In the instance of a work stoppage, the WestJet Group is taking all necessary actions to manage the impacts as much as possible, including:
- Operating a reduced schedule.
- Proactive management of changes and cancellations, to ensure the ability to communicate with guests in advance of changes.
- Flexible change and cancel options for those who wish to make alternate arrangements.
