Saskatoon, SK: The YXE Saskatoon Airport (YXE) is proud to reflect on a year of important accomplishments enhancing our commitment to our community, guest experience, sustainability, and connectivity.
YXE recorded approximately 3 per cent year-over-year growth in 2025 welcoming a total of 1.517 million passengers through our doors and marking the airport’s second busiest year for air travel on record.
Air Service that strengthens connectivity, expands travel options, and improves one-stop connections for passengers remains one of our most important strategic initiatives. During the peak summer season, Air Canada resumed seasonal nonstop service to Montréal while WestJet returned seasonal Kelowna service. WestJet also introduced new seasonal service to Halifax adding important connections onward to secondary markets across Europe and maintaining important daily frequency to Minneapolis as our only U.S. Hub service.
The addition of a new children’s play area supports YXE goals of enhancing the passenger experience, an important metric that is tracked as part of our participation in Airports Council International’s Airport Service Quality (ASQ) program. Additionally, YXE achieved a national ranking of fourth in aircraft on-time performance, reinforcing our commitment to operational efficiency.
YXE also advanced its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives, publishing our first public-facing ESG report. This report demonstrates a continued focus on sustainable and reliable operations and highlights key projects including the installation of a 1-megawatt solar facility, the addition of 2 electric utility vehicles and a hybrid truck to our fleet, and a new state-of-the art spray truck to keep our runways safe. We also celebrated the opening of our new community pollinator garden complimenting our existing beehive program to create a more welcoming environment for our bee-friends to thrive.
Looking ahead to 2026, YXE we will kick off our long-awaited $12 million arrivals hall renovation, scheduled to begin in the coming months and intended to showcase the heart of Saskatchewan as part of a new arrivals experience. We are also excited to welcome a brand-new groundside Tim Horton’s development on the corner of 45th and Airport Drive, which will enhance the customer experience for our guests and employees, as well as for travelers staying at nearby airport hotels.
Additional projects include the completed replacement of our main escalators, with more energy efficient technology, as well as pavement rehabilitation in various airside and groundside areas across the campus to support safe aircraft and vehicle movement. We also look ahead toward continued land development opportunities that compliment our core business and support community development.
“2025 reflected a year of stability for YXE,” said Stephen Maybury, President and CEO of the Saskatoon Airport Authority. “We are grateful to our passengers, partners, community, and YXE team members who made this year’s success possible. Looking ahead, we remain focused on improving passenger experience, strengthening connectivity, and advancing sustainable operations across the airport.”
