Entertainment

Children's play areas

You love kids? So do we! Working with Child Friendly Saskatoon, children gave us their feedback on what they want to see at YXE Saskatoon Airport and we listened. A toddler focused aviation play centre is located pre-security and three play areas are located post-security on the second floor. The kids area near gate 4 includes a ‘push to play’ interactive projector that will help use of any of the energy that you (or your kids) need to get rid of before a long flight.

Innovation for all ages

We want you to feel like a kid again! Whether you have a while to create a masterpiece or just want to put a smile on your face while walking by, come check out our light bright display located post-security behind Starbucks.

Art

Check out our artwork, The Living Skies of Saskatoon, located above the fireplace beside Gate 8. Commissioned from the local and very talented Ernie Scoles and Julianne Beaudin-Herney, representing peoples from many cultures The Living Skies of Saskatoon signifies the city of Saskatoon in central Saskatchewan and the hub between the prairies and the borealis forest of the North.

The mural located at Gate 1 was created by students from Georges Vanier Catholic Fine Arts School, located in the Avalon area of Saskatoon. The students who attend the school are exposed to all four strands of the Fine Arts Curriculum—visual art, drama, dance and music—on a regular basis. This mural demonstrates both their drawing and graphic design skills, with the students creating digitized and colour versions of their hand-drawn images. This project was realized under the direction of Monique Martin.  She is a multi-disciplinary artist with an extensive national and international exhibition history. Her work often comments on historically significant events and on contemporary, social and environmental issues.

Prairie peoples showcase

The Prairie Peoples Showcase located pre-security next to screening, is a small gallery that contains multiple displays for the public to enjoy. Permanent displays include partnerships with The Diefenbaker Centre of Canada and the Saskatchewan Aviation Council. Local artists are also rotated throughout the year.
